Short Description
This introductory session offers a warm and accessible exploration of how the Montessori approach supports individuals living with dementia, and disability and in the aging process. We will look at essential principles and simple, practical strategies that promote autonomy, meaningful engagement, cognitive stimulation, and dignity in everyday life. Participants will discover how a Montessori-informed approach can bring more humanity, purpose, and connection to the experience of care.

About Our Speaker

Julia Ballesteros is a Licensed Human Communication Therapist and a Language Therapist specializing in Cognitive Neurorehabilitation. She is a certified Montessori Guide for Adults in Ageing and Dementia and a Montessori Trainer in dementia, disability, and ageing. Her work focuses on restoring autonomy, meaningful engagement, and dignity for older adults. Julia is also a death doula, an advance-care planning facilitator, and a coach in happiness and wellbeing. She integrates neuroscience, compassionate communication, and Montessori principles to support individuals, families, and care teams in creating more humane, person-centered environments.

Designing Advanced Montessori Classical Studies
A visionary exploration of Montessori education across:
- 15–18 (Third Plane Adolescent)
- 18–21 and 21–24 (Fourth Plane Young Adulthood)
Participants will engage in a hypothetical design context for an expanding global humanities curriculum with purpose, rooted in classical studies, moral development, and service to humanity.
